Crispy, cheesy, and packed with bold pizza flavor—wrapped and rolled with a Doritos crunch
Doritos Pizza Rolls are the ultimate party snack—perfect for game day, movie night, or anytime you’re craving a cheesy, spicy twist on classic pizza flavors. These rolls combine the best parts of pepperoni pizza and crunchy snacks by wrapping a gooey, savory filling inside egg roll wrappers and coating them in crushed Doritos before frying.
The result? A golden, crispy outside with a bold, flavorful crunch, and a melty, saucy inside that tastes just like your favorite pizza joint. Using Nacho Cheese Doritos gives that extra punch of flavor, but feel free to get creative with other varieties like Cool Ranch or Spicy Sweet Chili.
Ingredients:
- 1 package egg roll wrappers (about 30 wrappers)
- 1 cup pepperoni, chopped
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (plus extra for dipping)
- 1/2 cup crushed Doritos (Nacho Cheese or your favorite flavor)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil recommended)
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the chopped pepperoni, shredded mozzarella, and 1/2 cup of pizza sauce.
- Mix until all ingredients are evenly coated and the filling is slightly sticky but not too wet. Set aside.
Tip: If your mixture feels too runny, add a bit more cheese or refrigerate for 15 minutes to firm it up.
Step 2: Assemble the Rolls
- Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean, dry surface with a corner pointing toward you (diamond shape).
- Place about 2 tablespoons of the pizza filling slightly below the center of the wrapper.
- Lightly moisten the edges of the wrapper with water (use your finger or a pastry brush).
- Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, fold in both side corners, then roll up tightly toward the top corner.
- Press the edges gently to seal.
- Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling until all are rolled.
Seal it well: A tight seal prevents the filling from leaking out while frying.
Step 3: Coat in Crushed Doritos
- Place the crushed Doritos in a shallow bowl or dish.
- Roll each filled egg roll in the crushed chips, pressing gently so the pieces stick to the surface.
- Set aside on a plate or tray until ready to fry.
Tip: You can pulse Doritos in a food processor or crush them in a sealed bag with a rolling pin for finer crumbs.
Step 4: Fry the Rolls
- In a deep skillet or heavy-bottomed pot, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully add 3–5 rolls at a time, depending on the size of your pan—don’t overcrowd.
- Fry each roll for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the rolls to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Repeat with remaining rolls.
Safety tip: Always monitor oil temperature. Too low, and they’ll be soggy; too high, and they’ll burn before the inside is hot.
Step 5: Serve
- Serve the Doritos Pizza Rolls while hot and crispy.
- Offer extra warm pizza sauce on the side for dipping.
- Optional: Sprinkle with a little grated Parmesan or chopped parsley for garnish.
Storage & Reheating:
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in the oven or air fryer at 375°F for 5–7 minutes to bring back the crispiness. Avoid microwaving, as it can make the rolls soggy.
Variations:
- Meatless option: Skip the pepperoni and use sautéed mushrooms or spinach instead.
- Spicy version: Add diced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes to the filling.
- Different chips: Try Cool Ranch Doritos, Flamin’ Hot, or even crushed cheese puffs for a unique flavor spin.
